It's one of the oldest Kali Temple in West Bengal. It is believed by the local people that Goddess Kalyaneshwari fulfils the wishes of childless women. It is said that a visit to Kalyaneshwari Temple proves very fruitful. Any wish when asked with devotion and a pious heart is certainly fulfilled by the mother. Once upon a time there was dense forest and the Goddess was worshiped by the dacoits. Legend was that sometime those dacoits used to kill humans and offer them to the Goddess. While the original temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali in the form of Maa Kalyaneshwari, Its original structure was built by Maharaja HariGupt who was fleeing from Kushans.
